Larry’s Lunchette is the new blogsite of Laurence Demarco who wrote for the 20 years of the Senscot Bulletin; the name is recycled from my first venture, sixty years ago  – so a bit of nostalgia. It’s a pleasingly modest name – personal – convivial – no ongoing significance.

I write a 250 word weekly column, and select writings about ‘the community’ –  society’s ‘third sector’ of activity –  working for the ‘common good’: social justice and a healthy planet. It won’t be very long till humankind creates the technology to provide for the basic needs of everyone – affordably; but the human brain is not as agile with moral calculations.  Just because we’ll soon have the resources to organise society cooperatively, doesn’t mean we’ll have the wisdom to do so; this still needs more work.
